Netflix Login: The Basics

Netflix is available on a wide range of devices — smart TVs, streaming sticks, game consoles, smartphones, tablets, and web browsers. While the login process is similar across all of them, the navigation steps vary by device. This guide covers each platform clearly.

Logging In on a Web Browser

  1. Go to netflix.com in any modern browser.
  2. Click Sign In in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter the email address and password linked to your Netflix account.
  4. Click Sign In to access your account and select a profile.

Tip: If you see a "Who's watching?" screen, you're already signed in — just select your profile to continue.

Logging In on a Smart TV

  1. Open the Netflix app on your TV. If it's not installed, find it in your TV's app store.
  2. On the sign-in screen, you'll see two options: enter credentials directly or use a sign-in code.
  3. Using a sign-in code (recommended): Select "Use a Sign-In Code". A unique code will appear on screen.
  4. On your phone or computer, go to netflix.com/tv8 and enter the code to instantly log in.

Logging In on iPhone or Android

  1. Download the Netflix app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and tap Sign In.
  3. Enter your email address and password, then tap Sign In.
  4. Select your profile to start watching.

Logging In on a Streaming Device (Roku, Fire Stick, Apple TV)

The process is nearly identical across streaming devices:

  • Open the Netflix channel or app.
  • Select Sign In on the welcome screen.
  • Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your email and password, or use the sign-in code method for faster entry.

Logging In on a Game Console (PlayStation, Xbox)

  1. Find Netflix in the console's app store if not already installed.
  2. Open the app and choose Sign In.
  3. Use the controller to navigate the on-screen keyboard and enter your credentials.
  4. Alternatively, use the sign-in code method via netflix.com/tv8.

Managing Who Can Log In: Netflix Household

Netflix's account sharing policies require that users watching on a different network verify their access periodically. If you're prompted to verify, Netflix will send a verification code to the account owner's email or phone. Enter that code to confirm access.

Signing Out of Netflix

To sign out from a specific device, go to Account Settings → Manage Access and Devices and select the device you want to sign out from. To sign out of all devices at once, use the "Sign out of all devices" option — useful if you suspect unauthorized access.

Common Netflix Login Issues

  • Forgot password: Click "Forgot password?" on the login screen and follow the email reset link.
  • Wrong email: Try alternate emails you may have used when signing up.
  • App not loading: Force-close the app, clear its cache, or reinstall it.
